Being a freshmen at a new school can be very intimidating. Attending my first Exploring Your Digital Portfolio class was unlike what I was expecting. I had began the class later than everyone else because I had to revise my schedule. Not knowing what a digital portfolio class would be about was a little nerve racking. From digital footprints to programming a micro bit, I have learned so much. We have been prepared for the day that we go out into the real world and get a real job. Although this class started out intimidating for me, it has turned out to be my favorite class this semester. Every day was a new topic that was intriguing to learn about. We had to read three different books, lol OMG , Untangling the Web , and Light, Bright and Polite . My favorite book to read was lol OMG. When beginning a website , it can be very overwhelming. To start, find a template of your choice and create a domain name for your website address. The next step would be to pick a host. Wix or Weebly is preferred because they are two of the easier websites to use. Once you have selected your host, you need to select your domain. This means ".com" or ".net", but those are at an expense. Most hosts will have a free version that includes their name in the web address. After these steps, it is time to start creating pages on your website. Pages range for everyone depending on what their website is about, but most have an about, contact, or home page. If you are creating a personal page, consider including your resume, or any personal achievements. Maintaining your website is important depending on what you are using it for. Virtual reality has been growing in the gaming world. Now it is being used in hospitals. There are different types of ways you can experience this. Google Cardboard has given a lady named Bonny the ability to see again. She suffers from Stargardt disease, where her vision has been lost due to cells in her retina dying. After not being able to see for eight years, she used Google Cardboard. With the assistance of cardboard and an app called Near Sighted VR Augmented Aid she was able to see. The app uses s stereoscopic image, where the app records from the rear camera on your phone, and delivers the same image to the eye. This form of virtual reality is relatively cheap. Starting at twenty dollars for the cardboard, you can experience this. At Children's Memorial Hermann , the pediatric patients were surprised with Google Cardboard.
